Duos

How do I pair with someone?

Tap the mode pill at the top of the Swipe screen, create a duo, and share the invite link or the six-character code. Once your partner joins, you both swipe on the same recommendations and anything you both like turns into a match.

My partner’s invite link does nothing

The link only opens the app once Pickovie is installed. Install it first, then tap the link again. You can also open the app and enter the six-character code by hand.

We are not getting any matches

A match needs both of you to like the same title. If your filters are very narrow (a high minimum rating, a short year range, or only one streaming service), you will see fewer shared titles. Widen the duo filters and keep swiping.

Recommendations

The suggestions do not feel like me

The app learns from your swipes, so the first few dozen are the roughest. Passing on things you do not want teaches it as much as liking things you do. You can also revisit your vibes, genres and streaming services from your profile at any time.

I keep seeing things I have already watched

Swipe down on a title to mark it as seen, and rate it. Seen titles drop out of your deck and feed back into what you get shown next.

A title says it is on a service, but it is not

Streaming availability comes from TMDB and changes constantly, and it differs by country. We show what our data source reports for your region. Always check the streaming service itself before you commit to a film night.

Your account

Do I need to sign up?

No. Pickovie works straight away with an anonymous account. Adding an email address is optional and only exists so you can recover your lists on a new device.

I reinstalled and lost everything

An anonymous account lives on the device. If you never added an email address, there was no way for us to recognise you on the fresh install. Add an email from Profile → Account & settings → Account Info to avoid that next time.

My sign-in code never arrived

Check your spam folder, then request a new code. Codes expire after a short while.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Account & settings → Account Info → Delete Account. It removes your profile, swipes, lists, watched titles, duos and matches permanently, and cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Notifications

Pickovie asks for notification permission the first time there is actually something worth telling you about. iOS only asks once per install, so if you said no and changed your mind, turn them back on in Settings → Pickovie → Notifications.

Pickovie uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Film and TV data and artwork come from The Movie Database.
